Are Prosperous Americans a threat to Democracy?

Wall Street Bull
In a recent interview with MTV, the President indicated that a group called "Americans for Prosperity" were a threat to our Democracy. Now I am so sorry, but when I saw this, I couldn't stop my mind from racing to the thought, "I wonder if the President is against prosperous Americans." Sure, I realize I am using a play on words here, but it sure seems like the President is against both groups.

For example, the President just can't seem to grasp why Americans making over 250,000 dollars a year want to keep their money, instead of having one of the most inefficient distribution channels in the world (Government) commandeer their wealth and spread it around to those who didn't earn it. I think if the President could have his way, he would tax these prosperous Americans until they start sending lint from their pockets in with their tax returns. At least then...

he'll know he's gotten it all.

But more seriously, why would prosperous Americans be a threat to our Democracy? I think it's cool to see someone start with nothing but lint, add a whole lot of work and sleepless nights, then over time turn their creation into something that not only generates for themselves a reward (called lots of money), but employs others and provides a product that people really enjoy. How is that a threat?

Well perhaps it's a threat from this standpoint. If private, innovative, and hard working people keep creating jobs and wealth with their small businesses, if they keep the economy humming, if they keep advancing society with their breakthroughs, what political platform does the social liberal have on which to stand? That's right - a big fat nothing!

Perhaps though, the President has a different Democracy in mind than what we Americans think of. You see, I think this is where the President starts to make sense, at least to himself. He's thinking of a  Democracy where overachievers are cut down to give the underachievers something to stand on - in the end, evening out the landscape. In other words, don't let someone break out ahead of the pack, no...put all the cattle in the same car! After all, every American deserves a ride in the same cattle car to the societal camp called "Death to Capitalism." Well, except for the elite politicians of course; society still needs someone to change it's diapers. (I wonder if there is a regulator for diaper changing.)

So here is a simple three step test that will indicate if you are a threat to the President's version of Democracy. Step 1)...Reach into your pocket and feel around. If you find any money, you are a threat - send that money in to the IRS ASAP! Step 2)...If all you find in your pocket is lint, then you are still a threat - send the lint in to the IRS ASAP! Step 3)...If you reach into your pocket and realize that your clothes are so old that all the pockets have holes in them, then you are no threat - just like the President likes. (Sounds like Kenya) O, and by the way, don't even dare ask the politicians to jump onboard and ride in the cattle car with you - what's good enough for us is not good enough for them. They insist on riding coach - first class.

Here is the MTV clip...
